Outdoor Bars & Kitchens

We can create any area you wish for even if you don't know what you need..... a great way to discover what you're looking for is through Instagram or google images and simply send us an email with your inspirations and we'll design something to fit your use and space.

An outdoor kitchen is a great way to be involved whilst entertaining and preparing food and with a roof on top and maybe a heater installed this space can be used 365 days a year and maximize the time on the bbq!

Lighting is a big part of these spaces especially if you're wanting to entertain into the night so consider feature lighting, mood lighting and necessity lights -  Power will be required also to power fridges and sockets etc.

Case Study

This project was a complete blank canvas with a simple seating area installed on an unstable deck and a blank brick wall as a back drop. Below we'll point out some key things we did on this project to help understand what we do different to other installers and options you could consider.

Light Wall

Behind the the 3x1 cladding is a damp proof black membrane and 10 meters of remote controlled LED lights with various modes to suit your mood. Turn them down on a single colour for mood lighting or put them on microphone mode and they'll flash multi coloured to music....this really comes to life at night.

Hidden gutter & Roof

We Angles the rook backwards allowing for more height to the front and a better rain coverage. The Kitchen itself is not fixed to neighbours wall and the gutter is out of site completely. The roof itself is marine ply, topped with a damp proof membrane then sealed in felt with the edges sealed with an exterior silicone to stop drips,  all rainwater moves  to the rear and then to a soak away under the deck.

Under Bar Lighting

Hidden LED rope lights again remote controlled via an app or separate remote. This can be set to a single colour and the brightness turned down or again be set to multicolored and react to music

Countertops

On this project we used a porcelain floor tile to the size we wished the counters to be.  Supported underneath with marine ply to stop flex. This area is sealed with clear exterior silicone to ensure its completely waterproof  and with the infa-red heater above it holds heat in the cooler weather

Waterproofing

The whole structure is built using 4x2 treated timber then wrapped in a damp proof membrane for full protection. The cladding is then fixed off the membrane to allow air flow

Finishes

We had to plan to build in an integrated BBQ and space for an outdoor fridge. In addition the customer specified dedicated shelving. We tilled around the BBQ for heat protection and also ease of cleaning.

Gas bottle storage

We built under storage to accommodate two gas bottles to supply a pizza oven and BBQ. At the back of the kitchen there is a removable panel to access these bottles - out of sight! We then ran gas lines to the areas required.

Treatment

All timber used is pressure treated to prolong rot on top of this to repel water we finished in a clear oil that we'd recommend to freshen up every year!
